SAMA Tourism Villages was established as a Zubair Tourism Development initiative early in 2006. After the acquisition of Golden Sands Resort & Hotel a desert encampment at the start of the Sharqiya Sands district, it was quickly identified that other such remote accommodation units could be of significant benefit to tourism development in remote areas.
By establishing SAMA Tourism Villages LLC, we have created an embryonic brand by which to establish a network of Tourism Villages across the diverse and awe-inspiring landscape of Oman. Apart from the location of natural beauty, it also allows SAMA Tourism Villages a unique opportunity of showcasing the local culture and heritage of that unique area.
Each Village will be identified for its individual attributes for the following:-
- Stunning natural vistas that allow each guest a fantastic and memorable view of Oman at its best.
- Access to using the location to do extreme sports such as rock climbing, trekking, mountain biking, diving, wind & Kite surfing, land yachting, and much much more.
- Being able to involve the local community in traditional arts and crafts, whilst also showcasing local artistic folklore groups for traditional dance, song and music.
- Being able to be at one with nature whilst hopefully preserving and protecting the environment.
SAMA Tourism Villages has embarked on a programme of launching a strategic network of Tourism Villages to range from Musandam in the North to Dhofar Region in the south, from the Indian Ocean cost to the Mountain sites of Jebel Ahkdar.

As part of SAMA Tourism Villages, SAMA Al Wasil serves to introduce both residents and visiting tourists to the wonders of the Desert (Wahiba Sands), Region of Oman.Nestled in a flat valley some 5kms long by 2kms wide, SAMA Al Wasil is surrounded by dunes of varying heights. Affording the guest the real feeling of being isolated in the desert and away from the outside world. It has created a traditional infrastructure designed to make your stay comfortable, exciting and an unforgettable experience.
SAMA Al Wasil offers 20 x One & Two Bedroom ensuite Chalets, with hot showers and an outside patio where you can relax and have those quiet moments when you wish to be alone.
There is also a Village comprising of traditional Bedouin tents perched on top of sand dunes for an authentic feel of desert life. This Village consists of a very large tent and a cluster of smaller ones for families and couples.
To make your experience more than just a visit to the desert, SAMA Al Wasil offers something for everyone. Get your friends together or invite your village neighbours for a great game of “Beach” Soccer / Volleyball / Rugby, in the specially created Sports Arena. Or take a dip in the pool while your kids have fun in the Adventure Playground.
As a result of Zubair Tourism Development acquiring and subsequently upgrading what is now SAMA Al Wasil, it will now commence a programme to strategically develop a network of Tourism Villages across Oman. By doing so, it will showcase certain areas of natural beauty and interest within the Sultanate, with its Villages serving as a means of a base for further exploration of the Country.
The objective of these Villages being to offer the resident and visiting tourist an opportunity to experience what these locations have to offer, in safe, clean, comfortable, and yet rustic accommodation. An experience of understanding the culture and heritage of the people of the area, whilst enjoying the many wonders and vistas of the surrounding landscape.
By strategically placing Tourism Villages in remote areas, such as deserts, mountains, and coastal areas etc., it serves to open up locations otherwise made difficult to explore without this accommodation.
Apart from being an accommodation centre, we also like to think that SAMA Tourism Villages plays an important role in preserving local customs and heritage. By displaying arts and crafts from the Region and presenting local folklore shows, we give the guest a snapshot of life in the area.

We also offer the Corporate world that very special alternative when looking for a seminar / team building / merchandising / product launch venue.
